Hot Shrimp Chutney, known as 'Sambal Trassi' in Germany or Netherlands, has a savory and hot taste as this paste originated from Asia. You can buy everywhere in Supermarkt here, they are packed in small bottles but the taste ist mal so - mal so... Not a real taste of sambal trassi.
Actually, it is simple easy to make our own Hot Shrimp Chutney, here is my recipe:
We need:
- 1 tomato
- 4 pcs shallots
- 1 pcs garlic
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- sugar and salt
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (more if you like hot)
- 1,5 teaspoon shrimp paste*
Cut tomato in to 2 pcs then fry together with shallots and garlic. Put shrimp paste if they are half done.
And then mix them all together in grinder (or mixer with lowest speed). Ready to serve.
*Shrimp paste could be found in Asian shop, sold as a block or powder.

This looks really good. I'm going to give it a whirl!
